Samridhdhi Trust is a social change organisation working with out-of-school children of migrant workers in Bengaluru. We engaged with students of class 7 and 8 on our in-house Citizenship Curriculum.
This curriculum is a gamified, activity-based learning approach to teach and extract meaning from concepts like Fundamental Rights, Elections in India, RTI and how to file it, FIR and how to file it, and other such important concepts that a citizen must abide by.

Financial Literacy (ABL) for Dazzling Stars

With the onset of covid-19, education through physical classes became inaccessible to students across the country creating a huge disadvantage for those from the underserved communities. We have been engaging with students of class 10 from Kodigehalli Government school teaching them math and science through virtual mode of education, following Karnataka SSLC syllabus.

STEM Education for Kodigehalli

While working with visually impaired children, we realised how little common man knows about anything related to their education. To tackle the same, we launched a 2-week awareness campaign highlighting the lack of inclusivity of education for visually impaired children in our state, the kind of tools and technologies blind children use to learn, the challenges faced by them, etc.
Following which, we launched our 3-day Visionary Ideathon to include young adults to ideate and develop their own TIKs(hyperlink to TIK engagement). The ideathon saw 40+ youth from various colleges and organisations participate with utmost enthusiasm. They developed kits for class 10 science chapters which contain activities and methodologies of teaching children without sight, in order to create an interest in a subject that is considered to be ‘visual’ in nature.
This was conducted in collaboration with Vision Empower Trust www.visionempowertrust.in/

Visionary Ideathon - TIKs for Visually Impaired Children

Tirtha Ashrama is a children’s home located in Bengaluru, providing shelter, care and welfare for girl children from underprivileged backgrounds. 
We have been providing education (either as secondary or primary educators) for the past 2 years in the following fields:

a) Mathematics 
A foundational subject by nature, we engage with all girls on different levels to bridge the numeracy gap. Children of classes 1-7 are taught our ‘Bridging Math’ course whereas children of classes 8-10 are engaged with the math syllabus set by Karnataka SSLC Board.

All highschool students are taught science to spark an interest in the subject considered ‘daunting’ by them. While the Karnataka SSLC syllabus is used for reference, classes go beyond the textbook to instill curiosity in the children.
c) Basics of Conversational and Written English
Knowing to comprehend and converse in English is undeniably a requirement in today's times. We engage extensively with children from primary and middle school, to bridge this language barrier. Learning through unconventional and more impactful methods has been a priority, so much of the teaching takes place through an activity based curriculum involving games, story telling, etc.

#DonateToEducate was a 10-day webinar series which covered six different topics within finance, technology and citizenship. The campaign integrated education and philanthropy: following a Pay-As-You-Wish Policy, attendees were encouraged to donate towards the relief of those that were endangered by the pandemic, based on the value they derived from the sessions. The campaign saw six eminent speakers from different fields hold online sessions:

#DonateToEducate: Covid-19 Relief Fundraiser (20th - 30th June 2020)

Children from underserved communities in and around Puttenahalli attended classes with us where we engaged with them on bridging the numeracy gap in their education. The primary focus was to get the children comfortable with the 4 key arithmetic operations - addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

The children were taught science chapters using teacher instruction kits created by the Sitara team with Vision Empower Trust. These kits contain activities and learning methodologies tailored to teach visually impaired children.

Vision Empower Trust is one such non-profit organisation that develops accessible content and technologies to enable STEM education for children with visual impairment. We collaborated with this organisation to provide them with TIKs for all chapters of Class 10 Science, curated by our young volunteers.

Teacher Instruction Kits with Vision Empower Trust

When covid-19 hit and the whole world switched to an online medium, children from underserved communities fell behind. For a whole year, the children had little to no access to education. As an attempt to bridge this, we started our Math in Kannada series, putting up YouTube videos online which covered the entire class 10 math syllabus. Seeing the traction it got, we began to cater to other needs raised by the children too leveraging YouTube and WhatsApp as part of our accessible edtech series.

We currently have 4500+ subscribers, 2,00,000 channel views, 11000 learning hours and over 800 children have reached out to us since the inception of the series. We will soon be launching our science series, stay tuned!
